Oct. 2

Today we harvested our Sun Circle garden! We had 3 stations of gardeners helping to get all the jobs done. Some of us were diggers and pickers, others were washers, and some of us worked to collect all the tops and leafs for the compost. After we finished harvesting we counted up all the vegetables. Here are the results:

Oct. 1

This morning we did centres to start. Lots of us are busy writing stories and doing surveys.  We worked on our All About Me books and used our Terry Fox surveys to make bar graphs.

After lunch we started adding facts to our Natureground plants project. Did you know that Wild Blue Flax can be used as eye medicine, the seed capsules can be used as beads, the blossoms only last for one day, they help keep bees alive, and it makes your hair shiny?

In gym we practice some soccer skills. We practiced dribbling, scoring goals, and passing.

Tomorrow is Fresh Air Friday. We will be harvesting our garden!!! If you would like to come and help (and you have your volunteer clearance done) please feel free to join us at about 9:45.

Sept. 30

Today was the Terry Fox Run! Before we ran we had a Terry Fox assembly lead by our grade 5 and 6 friends. Our class ran a total of 110 laps. That's 110Km! That's like running to Canmore! Our class did really really well, each person in our class ran at least 4km.

Please check your child's agenda for a photo form and a notice about next week's Fresh Air Friday activity!  This Friday we are planning to harvest our garden. We will start harvesting at about 9:45. If you have completed your volunteer forms and would like to join us please feel welcome!

Today we kept working on our Natureground plant study by adding water colour to our Wild Blue Flax sketch. We also found some sticks to add to our fabric art project. We are hoping to have them done soon!

We also worked to finish up our journals. We made a target to help us to do our best work.

Today we practiced running the real Terry Fox route! Don't forget that tomorrow is the REAL Terry Fox Run! Please wear our best running shoes and comfortable running clothes. Please also bring a water bottle and an extra snack.

Today we had a chance to tour the book fair. We each made a wish-list and put them in our agendas. The book fair will be open for shopping tonight and tomorrow during parent-teacher conferences.

We also harvested our beans today! We are planning to eat them next week. We will be harvesting the rest of the garden in a few weeks.

Toonies for Terry started today. We will be collecting donations everyday until our Terry Fox Run on Sept. 30th.  You can also donate on-line at: http://www.terryfox.org

Please remember there is no school tomorrow due to parent teacher conferences. Have a great long weekend!

Happy Autumn!

Today we have 2 new notices coming home in our agendas.

The first page is a fundraising form for the Terry Fox Run. We have been training hard for the Terry Fox Run and we hope you will support our efforts!

The second page is the Parent Viewpoint form.  Please fill out this form and bring it with you to your parent-teacher conference. The first side of the form is to be filled out by parents and the second side should be filled out by students with help from their parents. We will be using these forms to guide our conversations on Thursday and Friday.
