Today we had a chance to try the last of our three new centers. After centers we finished up our Guess Who? projects. We are now ready to start hanging them up on the wall for everyone to see.
Can you guess who?
After recess we had some book time and then we went outside to do a practice lap of the real Terry Fox course that we will be running tomorrow. Then we came inside and did our first warm-up sorting activity with our nature collection. Today we could sort our collection any way we wanted. We were all really great at sorting but next week the sorting activities are going to get a lot more challenging! It will be exciting to see how many challenges we can do!
After lunch we had a visit from author Shane Peacock. Most of his books are for older students but he wrote a beautiful picture book about Vincent Van Gogh called "The Artist and Me". We read it earlier this year and it was really neat to meet the author. Ask me more about Shane's visit! We are also bringing home an order form in case your family would like to order any of Shane's books. (Please remember that the picture book mentioned above is the one that would be appropriate for gr. 1/2.)
Tomorrow is the Terry Fox Run. We will be running rain or shine (just like Terry!), which means we need to come dressed for the weather. We will be running for approximately 45 minutes so please make sure you are dressed in layers, are wearing good running shoes, and have a water bottle labeled with your name. Today we are bringing home a Terry Fox tattoo and a sticker. The sticker is designed to be worn while you are running and has a space to include the name of someone you are running for. Usually this is someone you know who has been affected by cancer and it is a way to show that you are supporting them. Please attach the sticker to your shirt in the morning.
