This morning during guided reading and center time we had a chance to test out the new centers. They are: Counting Feet, Reader's Theatre, and Spelling Practice. Next week we will be back on our center groups and we will spend one week at each center.
After centers we started putting our Whispering Woods books together. We worked on our covers and used raffia to tie our books together. Raffia made sense because our books are about nature and raffia is a natural material.
In math today we tried to use our counting by 2's learning to do some work by ourselves. Our learning intention was continue building our confidence and fluency with skip counting patterns. First, we tried to work on our own to see how much we could do without any help. Then, when we did need help we first tried using our hundreds charts and then we asked an adult if we still needed more help.
After lunch we continued with our Arctic History Books. Evelyn and Jordan brought in some new information about Inuit tools. Evelyn gave us some more details about the materials used to make Inuit tools and how tools like harpoons, spears, and ulu's were used. Jordan found out that the Inuit used bows and arrows and shared information about how they were made. Thank you Evelyn and Jordan!
Today we had some bitter-sweet news. The bitter part is that Hussain is moving away. But the sweet part is that he is moving to Victoria! What a beautiful place to be moving! We were all sad to say goodbye to our friend Hussain but we wish him well at his new school in Victoria. He will try to keep in touch with us by email.
Please remember tomorrow is Fresh Air Friday! We will not be spending the whole morning outside due to the cold weather but we will be outside for part of the morning so please dress for the weather. If you have not brought your container for the ice village please make sure to bring it tomorrow.
Our helper on Monday is: Ezra
