Highlights:
- Today we shared our boat designs with Mrs Yoon and got them approved for building!
- Once the boats were built, we went to our water bins to test it for stability and movement.
- We also used pennies to see how much cargo it could hold. Our target was to hold 100 pennies!
- Some of us realized we needed to make alterations to our designs to make it more stable for harsh weather conditions (we had our friends blow air to mimic strong winds
- Then in math, we had more fun with measurement activities using non-standard measurement. In groups of 3-4, we went off on various measurement missions:
- We had to use our feet to measure the distance between room 1's door to the office door
- We used math cubes to measure how tall we were... some of use laid on the ground, others connected the cubes vertically and stood up beside it.
- We used the one's blacks from the place-value-block set to measure the width of our desks
- We used the length of our bodies to measure the distance between the steps in the learning commons
- We used our hands to measure the width of our carpet
