Fresh Air Friday - Becoming Explorers of the World

Today we started looking at a great new book. It is called "How To Be An Explorer Of The World".

To start our day today we went on a native plant hunt in the Natureground. We noticed that bees are attracted to some plants more than others. They seemed to really love goldenrod. We learned to identify purple aster and white aster, wild blue flax, bergamot, yarrow, goldenrod, and cone flower.

We used Flower Power today to make some art. We used white fabric and we smashed flowers and other plants and the colours came out on our fabric. We discovered that when you pound the juice out of the flowers they dye the fabric. We didn't know that flowers had natural dye in them!
