It was Fresh Air Friday today and we went outside to look for signs of spring. Each person in the group had one of the following jobs: (1) recorder with recording paper (2) bird watcher with binoculars (3) "Insector" [insect inspector] with magnifying glass and insect recording sheet, (4) photographer with iPad.
Afterwards we came together and compiled our findings.
Here are some photos and things we found:
- leaves
- berries
- green patches of grass
- gopher hole
- southern red fire ants
- pussy willows growing
- sprouting plants
- buds
- flowers
- mouse
- black spider
- birds - we think they were ravens, chickadee, robin, woodpecker, crow
- ladybug
- animal scat
- animal fur
seal skin mittens,
ulu knife,
and Inuit snow goggles
and prepared a PowerPoint which provided information about them. Leander also shared a presentation he about people in Nunavut. Then, we started our "Inuit Artifacts" poster which we will continue working on next week!
