FAF #4 - Harvesting Day

Highlights:
  • Today, we went outside to the planter boxes to harvest the vegetables that grew over the summer! We had so much fun digging out the beets, carrots, potatoes and zucchinis!
Here we are learning about what we have to do!

This is the carrot group! We dug up the carrots, then twisted off the green tops of the carrot. Afterwards, the carrots were brought inside to the washing group, who cleaned them!We worked well together to find all the carrots.

There were so many carrots!
Look how big some of the carrots were!

This is the potato group! We found yellow and red potatoes! The potatoes were deep in the soil so Mrs. Yoon had to use a big shovel to break up the soil. There were lots of potatoes!

We were digging up beats - but there were small and not too many. We also had to remove the leafy tops off the beats. We learned that the purple pigment of beets could dye our fingers so we used scissors to cut off these tops.

These are some of the vegetables we found!

Afterwards, we sorted the vegetables.
We will be using them for some Math activities in the upcoming week.
