Swimming, Stories, Math, and Dioramas

This has turned out to be quite a busy week! In addition to swimming we are trying to get two of our big projects finished up. Before we went to swimming we worked on our arctic stories. We are trying to get all the typing done by the end of this week so that we can move on to one last writing project before the school year is over. Quite a few of us are getting close to being finished but we are discovering that typing is a lot of work! If you are one of our friends who would like to get better at typing here is a program that might help: Dance Mat Typing.

At 9:45 we went to swimming. Our class is doing a fantastic job of being independent and respectful in the change rooms. This is helping to make sure everyone is on-time for their swimming lessons and it is helping us to arrive back at the school on-time. In the pool our class is being very brave and trying lots of new swimming skills. The instructors are very happy with the way we are listening and doing our best to follow all the instructions. Well done!

After swimming we had a few more minutes for story writing and then it was time for lunch. After lunch we worked on math. The grade 2's are working on two digit addition and subtraction word problems. We are working on showing our work by drawing a picture, recording the number sentence (equation), and answering the problem with a full sentence. The grade 1's are working on 1-digit addition and subtraction using the dominoes. When the grade 1's were finished their domino practice they were invited to try a new domino math game called "Clock-ominos".

A Few Important Dates:

1. Calgary's Bike to School day will be on June 6. On that day students will be encouraged to bike to school (if possible) and students will be invited to store their bikes in the gym for the day.

2. Ms. Boyer will be starting a "Weeding and Seeding" club on Thursday June 8th at lunch time. We will be preparing the sun circle garden for planting, planting the garden, and weeding in the Natureground. All students are welcome to attend.

Our helper tomorrow is:

P.S Sorry there wasn't a blog yesterday, Ms. Boyer was having some computer trouble.
