- This morning we shared our findings about the Bluenose Schooner and learned:
- It was a fishing ship that was then used as a racing ship because the Captian, Angus Walters, realized how fast it was
- it held the record for the largest catch of fish brought into Lunenburg at the time
- Built in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, in 1921
- during its 17 year racing career it only lost once
- You can review the information from these links:
- We looked closer at the parts of the Bluenose and added those details to our sketches
- Then, we went outside to pull out dandelion weeds in the Nature Grounds because we learned that they spread and take nutrients in the soil away from the other plants.
- Next, we read "Who Sank the Boat?" and talked about the importance of maintaining level and balance when building a boat to make sure the boat doesn't tip one way or the other
- Finally, we were tasked with creating a boat that floats out of plasticine through trial and error -we were not given any instructions except that we could only use the plasticine.
