Jan 17

Today we read the story "Prairie Willow," by Maxine Trottier and illustrated by Laura Fernandez and Rick Jacobson. We realized that many of the water color paintings that we have been creating about life on the prairies shared many similar aspects to the beautiful paintings in the book. Here were a few comparisons that we found:

Then for Fun Lunch and we got to use our Pattern Palooza placemats which was fun!

For word work, the grade 2s came together to learn about the different sounds that "-ed endings" make. Each of us wrote a word with an -ed ending on our whiteboards and shared it with the class. Then we listened closely to the sound it made and realized there are 3 different "-ed ending" sounds: "-ed", "-d", and "-t". Meanwhile, the grade 2s carried on with their "-an" word family exercises in pairs and groups.

Then in music we finished up our tree art. Using the sounds and movement exercises that were inspired by the Vivaldi piece titled, "Spring," these are some of artwork pieces we created in music.
