Whispering Woods what do you hear?

This morning we went outside to continue our Whispering Woods research. Today we focused on trying to listen for the sounds of the Whispering Woods. We each went to our own quiet space and tried to be silent for 10 minutes so we could hear the noises in the woods. We heard birds singing, leaves crunching, footsteps, wind, squirrels, and snapping twigs.

After recess the grade 1 friends did word practice at the carpet while the grade 2's did solo booktime. The grade 1's are focusing on 3-letter words with the short 'i' sound. We have studied words in the -ig, -it, and -in family so far.

During our math time we finished our sorting reflections and then we got to play mathletics. Our new mathletics log-in information will be coming home soon.

This afternoon we got our recipe books organized and hole punched so that they will be ready to bring home tomorrow. If we still had pages to decorate we had to get that done too.  After that we had library. A lot of us had forgotten our books at home. Please remember that our library day is Wednesday and we need to return our books each week.

Then we had gym.  In gym we played hotdog tag. When you got tagged you had to stand with your hands above your head to show that you were a hot dog. Then two people had to come and stand on either side of you to be the bun. Once you had a bun you were free to start running again.
