May 6 - Swimming tomorrow

Reminders:
1. Special Helper for tomorrow is : Jeffrey (favorite game)

2. Swimming starts tomorrow -  room 2 will be in the afternoon (swimming lessons are from 2:20pm-3pm -- parent volunteers who have signed up for swimming please remember to arrive around 1:50 pm tomorrow)
  • students please remember to pack:
    •  an extra snack - as you may be hungry after swimming lessons
    • proper walking shoes - to walk to and from the pool
    • plastic bag - for wet swimsuit and towel after swimming
    • underwear - if you are wearing your swimsuit to school
3. Our next field trip will be on May 22 - we will be going to the Glenbow Museum - forms will be going home shortly with more information. Parents with police clearance who are available to volunteer on this trip may email Mrs. Yoon.

Highlights:
  • Math: we started our next unit in math of Numbers in our new math groups! All the students in grades 1 and 2 were organized into groups for targeted math instruction with numbers. 
    • The students who stayed in room 2 worked on mental math of 1-digit and 2-digit numbers by playing more Salute 
    • The students who went to room 1 worked on counting and grouping using objects and manipulative 
    • The students who went to the portables used whiteboards to organize and group numbers for numbers up to 18.
  • Social Studies/Art: we reflected on our in-class field trip from last week by creating a four-panel art piece that had our favorite activities from that experience. 
  • Word Work: grade 1s learned about the "ob-family" words while the grade 2s had silent reading.
