Yoga Day 2

We are bringing home a field trip notice today.

This morning we worked on our poetry challenge and had another classmate who completed 5 performances and gets to make a button! Ask me how my poetry challenge is going and how close I am to earning a button.

In writing we continued with our family writing. More of us are now finishing up and starting to assemble our books. They look really great once they are all glued together and combined with our puppets! Here are a few that are almost finished:

After recess the grade 1's practiced their January words for the spelling test we will be having on Thursday. The grade 1's practiced their words using some practice strategies including word shapes, word trains, TV show, see-say-cover-spell, and word swirls. Here is the list of words in case you would like to practice at home.

The grade 2's met with Ms. Boyer and talked about our next homophone: There, their, and they're. We talked about the correct times to use each of these words and then practiced on the white boards.

In math we worked to finish up our pattern reflection pages. If these were not finished today they will be coming home for homework. If you are working on homework remember the expectation is that each page has the definition plus 5 examples.

This afternoon we worked on our animal artwork. Everyone has now chosen an animal and is working on their tear art. So far they are looking really great!

After that it was time for yoga. Today in yoga we learned to do the sun salutation as well as warrior 1, 2, and 3. Many of us had set the goal of paying more attention to our own bodies and less attention to others today. Some of us were really able to meet this goal. Some of us will try again tomorrow.

Then we had music. We started making a story using words and music. It had an Ender Dragon from Minecraft. We got to give Mr. O-Reilly the ideas and then he told the story. We had to close our eyes and imagine the things in our heads.

Our helper tomorrow is: Leander

Parents: We are thrilled to have home reading happening Mon.-Thurs. each week. If for some reason your child is not coming home with a new book daily please make sure to let Ms. Boyer know. Also, please help your child to leave toys at home unless they are the special helper. A lot of toys showed up in our classroom today and they were causing quite a bit of distraction during our learning time. Thank you!
