Zoology Field Study

Today we went to Nose Hill to do a zoology field study. Our goal was to find evidence of animals and think about what that evidence might mean. We are learning to observe and develop theories based on what we observe. Here are some of our observations and theories:

Josie: I found little holes from mice. They were about the size of a baseball.
Aiden:We found a lot of deer scat!
Reid: We found lots of scat. The first one was from a deer. The second one was from a coyote. The third one might have been a moose or a hare.
Cedar: I saw scratches on a tree. I think the scratches might be from a deer or a coyote.
Katie: We saw rabbit scat and rabbit tracks.
Joachim: We saw tracks with a big gap in the middle. We thought the coyote was pouncing to get something under the snow.
Taylor: We found a lot of tracks. We think some were deer tracks.
Lawrence: We found lots of deer poop. We think it was all from one deer.
Abdul Ahad: We found a lot of mouse holes.
Senna: I found scat. I think it was from a coyote.
Lily: I found lots of divots in the snow. I think they were from deer lying down. The ones I found were small but then Joel found a big one.
Liam: I found a lot of dog scat. People should make sure they pick up their dog's poop at Nose Hill.
Addison: We found rabbit foot prints. They looked like circles and ovals.
Dhvani: We found white tailed deer tracks.
Aksel: We saw claw marks when were walking on a path in the trees. They might be from coyote or a deer or porcupine.
Ashton:We saw a lot of dog scat. We think owners need to do a better job of picking up on Nose Hill.

Our helper on Monday is: Aiden
