States of Matter

Today we started our morning with a talk about the promises we made to each other regarding respect for ourselves, others and the environment. Sometimes we make mistakes and make choices that are not respectful to our classmates and friends. We discussed different ways to show respect and brainstormed what we should do if we make choices that end up hurting other people.

Afterwards, we met with our big buddies and shared our prairie knowledge. Then we showed them our prairie books and read them our prairie poems.

We got to enjoy some hot chocolate as well.

To end the morning we continued our conversation about experiment - Water in Winter. We learned that the water we used in our experiment changed state, from liquid to solid, when it froze into ice. We watched a video to help us understand this and then took some notes:

We learned that the molecules for liquid, solid, and gas, behave differently. We also learned the ways water can change state: evaporation, condensation, precipitation and melting. Please ask us about this!

Special helper for Monday is Taylor.
